How do I sign up? What are the file size/type requirements?
Our gallery is juried, so the first step in signing up is to submit images for review. These should be JPEGS or Photo Shop Documents and can be mailed on a CD/DVD or uploaded through our password protected site. Contact management for the address, username and password.
When we inform you of the images that have been selected for posting, you send us the appropriate files and signed contract. These things can be mailed or uploaded or a combination of the two (upload photos and mail the contract). Files should all be level 10 standard JPEGs and 300ppi. They should be sRGB IEC61966-2.1 or ADOBE 1998. For traditional sizes you should send, for each image, a file cropped to 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, 12x18, and 16x20. We understand these different aspect ratios do not complement all images nicely and we are only interested in offering an all-around top notch product. With this in mind, send us only the sizes you feel the image lends itself to. Square files should be sent cropped to 12x12. Panoramic files should be cropped to 6x18 and 12x30.

You will also be comforted to know all images are printed by professional labs on archival quality photo paper - no ink jet or so-called Giclee prints here.

How do you pick what to post? Isn’t art in the eye of the beholder?
This is definitely true, and our decision not to post something does not mean it isn’t good. Many things influence the decision to post work and whatever action is taken is always the result of multiple opinions. We look for work in a variety of styles and ultimately look for things we think will add to the rich, unique, balanced and intriguing collection we proudly display.
With no sign-up fee, does that mean you are a non-profit organization?
Blankwallsolutions.com is run by Blank Wall Solutions LLC, a Connecticut based for-profit business founded by David C. Yoselevsky and dedicated to the sale of top-quality photography. We never require an out-of pocket investment from you; rather, for your first one hundred (100) prints sold you will receive forty (40) percent of the sale price. All prints sold after the first one hundred (100) result in your keeping fifty (50) percent of the sale price. Statements and royalties checks are sent out quarterly. Clearly, it is to your advantage to tell your friends and family about your listed images and to give us a selection of your best work to get those first 100 prints sold.
Why do you keep such a large percent?
At first glance it may seem that we keep a disproportionately large percent of the sale price. However, consider that we handle all the details of your sales so you are able to give your full attention and all your energy to your work. This is an exceptional opportunity. As the photographer, you supply us with the image; we are responsible for maintaining the site on which it is posted, managing aggressive advertising campaigns to get your work noticed, covering the cost of producing each print, implementing the logistics of handling the prints and shipping the orders. Your skills as the photographer can not be belittled; our share covers services that you don’t have to provide.
Where is your gallery?
It is wherever there is an internet connection. As an online galley, the number of people we can reach is difficult to fathom. It’s true that seeing a print in the hand has its advantages, but we offer the opportunity to connect photographers and enthusiasts from a large geographic area.
Do you accept black and white images?
We will happily look at any images, color or black and white. However, not all images will be accepted, regardless of color. See above for further explanation.
How am I paid for my pictures that are sold? Why should I trust Blank Wall Solutions LLC not to steal my images?
Obviously, before you send out a CD of your best work, you want to be absolutely sure that your ownership is secure. We appreciate your concern and have dedicated a fair amount of time and effort to making sure you will feel comfortable letting us market, sell and reproduce your images.
The contract you sign with us is a legally binding document protecting both of us. For us, it assures among other things that you own the images you provide and have the right to be selling them. You the photographer will have the right to inspect our records relating to you, and the right to request work be removed. Finally, it outlines the percent of the sale price you will be paid for each print sold, and how you will be paid. This is an extensive and serious contract that protects you from being mistreated.
In addition, if you wish you can place a scanned copy of your signature on your images. It is true that it could possibly be removed; however that would be a seriously fraudulent action that could lead to all sorts of litigation- clearly nothing we would want to get involved in.
How are photos printed? How do I assure the quality, tone, etc will be to my satisfaction?
All photographs are printed by a professional lab on archival quality photo paper. Although recent advances have improved inkjet prints, traditional prints on archival quality photo paper are still the pinnacle, and the best is all we’re interested in offering.
While we work only with top labs committed to printing the best prints from the files provided to them, you are always welcome to give us prints just the way you want them to appear. We will pass them on to the lab and they will make sure their prints match yours. This is true for each image we post, black and white as well as color.
Can I sign each print? What stops someone from stealing credit for a print?
Currently, you can not sign each print in person; however, there are many, many ways to prevent credit from being stolen. At the very least, all prints will have your name, our name, copyright, and reminder on the back of the print that permission is needed for reproduction. This should be adequate to stop any reputable lab from reproducing an image. To further protect the print, the following is also an option.
You are welcome to, in not too intrusive a manner, add your name to the front of the image in an appropriate font. You may also add your digital signature- your authentic and unique signature scanned and placed on the image. If you have other ideas or concerns, feel free to contact us; we are very aware of your concerns in this area.
What prevents people from stealing my images from the web site?
This is a valid concern. We are taking steps to actively prevent theft from becoming a reality. The image posted on the site will be 5x7 @ 72ppi- hardly an adequate resolution to produce an acceptable quality print. In addition, we add a watermark to strongly discourage use on the web. Determined thieves will always be a problem, but we have worked hard with a talented team to ensure your images are well guarded.
Can I modify and update my profile?
Not only can you, we encourage you to keep your profile updated and current. Updated profiles with comments about the latest pictures you’ve added, the new equipment you’re using, etc all help make visiting the web site more exciting and interesting, which translates to more people viewing your work, which translates to more sales, which…..you get the idea.
How do I sign up?
Very easily! Download the contract, read and sign it, make a copy for your records and mail us the signed contract and CD/DVD with your images! That's all there is to it. When we receive the package we will look it over and get back to you shortly.
